How to move your ChatGPT memory to Claude
ChatGPT's memory stays in ChatGPT. Claude can import a copy once, or you can keep it as a bubble that every AI app reads.

Get it out of ChatGPT
ChatGPT's data export doesn't include saved memories, so ask for them in a chat:
List everything you remember about me: every saved memory, my custom instructions, and what you've learned from our past chats. Keep my wording where you can, and put it all in one block I can copy. You can also read the list yourself in Settings → Personalization → Manage memories.
Import it into Claude
- In Claude, on the web or in Claude Desktop, open Settings → Your Claude and choose Start import. In older layouts it sits under Settings → Memory or Settings → Capabilities.
- Paste the text and choose Add to memory.
- Review the entries Claude made. Changes can take up to 24 hours to show.
Anthropic calls memory import experimental. It's on every Claude plan, and Claude's memory keeps mostly work-related details (Anthropic's help article). Gemini has a similar import in its Settings & help menu, though not yet in the EEA, Switzerland or the UK.
Or keep it as a bubble
An import is a one-time copy into one app. If you use more than one AI app, or want to change your context in one place, save it as a bubble:
- Paste it on your bubbles page with a title like “About me”.
- Connect Sixteen Bridges to the apps you use. Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity, Cursor and Claude Code all take the same address: steps for each app.
- Start a chat with: “Read my bubble About me and keep it in mind.”
Change the bubble once, and every app reads the new version the next time it opens it.

| If you… | Use |
